Application Review Process
IMLS uses a well-respected peer
review process which includes individual field review
and/or panel review to competitively evaluate all eligible
and complete applications. Reviewers are professionals
in the field who have relevant knowledge and expertise
in the types of activities and organizations identified
in the applications.
Reviewers are instructed to evaluate proposed
projects according to the criteria identified in the program
guidelines. The IMLS Director makes funding decisions
based on the reviewers’ evaluations and the overall
goals of the program and the Agency.
When we receive your application our staff
will review it to determine whether it is complete and
whether your organization is eligible to apply. You may
be contacted if additional information is needed to determine
your eligibility. Ineligible applicants will be notified
by mail and their applications will not be referred to
the peer review process.
